2016 carignane: Our second release from the Evangelho Vineyard, this vintage we chose to do 100% whole cluster in a stainless tank, just wetting the cap with light pump overs. Took almost 6 weeks to ferment and only barrel aged for 6 months before bottling. 140 year old, head trained & dry farmed vineyard in Contra Costa. Stepping onto the Evangelho Vineyard you feel like you are on another planet, The large head trained, arthritic knuckled vines are grown in powdery sand dunes and stranger yet is the rarity of grape vines in Contra Costa. This is a lighter reflection of the varietal than our previous year, rose petals and bramble fruit on the nose, medium bodied, long dusty tanins.
